This is a summary of all the information presented in the book by Tim LaHaye, How to study the Bible for yourself. But without most of the fluf and 'bad' doctrine
===== How to read the Bible =====
  * Read daily,

3 year plan

First year
  - Read 1 John, seven times
  - Read John, twice
  - Read Marc, twice
  - Read the short letters of Paul (Galatians, Ephesians, Filippenzen, Kolossenzen, 1 and 2 Thessalonicenzen, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus and Filemon
  - Read Luke
  - Read Acts
  - Read Romans
  - Read the New Testament, twice

Second year
  - Read the wisdom books of the Old Testament
    - In 4 months read Proverbs, Psalms, Job and Songs of Solomo
    - Read a chapter of Proverbs each day (completing it 4 times in 4 months)
    - After 3,5 months you complete the other books, and for the rest of the days you can read Psalms you liked to read.
  - Read the following parts a month each
    -  1 John
    - Ephesians
    - Filippenzen
    - 1 Thessalonicenzen
    - Jakobus
    - Romeinen 5-8
    - John 14-17

Third year
This year you read the whole Bible in a year
  - 1 chapter NT daily (completed after 313 days)
  - 2 chapters OT daily
  - 5 chapters OT on Sunday (or Shabbat of-course)

  - Wordt er hier iets onderwezen wat je moet toepassen in je dagelijkse leven? 
  
===== Onderwerp analyse =====
  - Het zal je helpen ontedekken hoe God denkt over belangrijke zaken
  - Het zal je helpen God op een persoonlijke manier te leren kennen
  - Het zal je helpen om van God te houden
  - Het zal je een volledige indruk geven van alles wat God wil dat je over een bepaald onderwerp weten
  
==== Hoe je een onderwerkpanalyse doet ====
  - Zoek het onderwerp op in een goede concordantie (editors note, wouldn't recommend, let the Bible define your definitions)
  - Schijf op een vel papier ieder nieuw idee over het onderwerp op. Begrijp dat vele lessen of ideeën herhaald worden in de Schrift tegen verschillende mensen of door verschillende schrijvers. Als God iets zegt, onthult dat zijn gedachten over het onderwerp.
  - Zoek alle verwijzingen naar dat onderwerp op, in het bijzonder die in het Nieuwe Testament en die naar de wijsheidsboeken in het Oude Testament. (LaHay doesn't want you to look in the Pentateuch, you might learn that God's commandments are for today, Shabbat Shalom!)
  - Bestudeer je notities zorgvuldig. Herlees ze meerdere malen todat de algemene lessen je duidelijk worden. Leraren zeggen dat herhaling een hulp bij het leren is.
  - Begin met het maken van een lijst van de ideeën of basisprincipes die God onderwijst over dat onderwerp. Dit moet op één of maximaal twee pagina's passen.
  - Probeer je analyse over dat onderwerp te reduceren tot een paragraag (maximaal een halve pagina).
  - Neem een goed bijbels woordenboek en anderzoek de definitie van dat zelfde onderwerp. Als jouw analyse duidelijk verschilt van die uit het boek, dan moet je teruggaan naar de eerste pagina van je documentatie en je analyse om te zien of je iets gemist hebt in je eigen studie. Als dat zo is, schrijf dan in een paragraaf waar je het mee eens bent en in een andere waar je het niet mee eens bent. Als je het eens bent met het woordenboek, prijs dan de Heer en ga verder met het volgende onderwerp (LOL!)

  - Het geeft je overwinning over de zonde
  - Het helpt je om je zorgen te boven te komen
  - Het geeft je vertrouwen in het delen van je geloof
  - Het versnelt het transformatie proces
  - Het helpt je om humanistische invloeden te vermijden
  - Het helpt je Gods wil te ontedekken

==== Hoe leer je bijbelversen uit je hoofd ====
  - Schrijf het op een kaarjte
  - Leer de verzen per onderwerp
  - Leer de verwijzingen (waar ze staan)
  - Leer drie verzen per week
  - Dateer elk vers.
  - Lees het vers hardop en maak er een vorstelling van in je gedachten.
  - Herhaal een week dagelijks. 
  - Herhaal daarna een keer per week, zeven weken lang.
  - Daarna eenmaal per maand, zeven maanden lang.
  (maximaal 21 verzen.)

===== Hoe kun je anderen begelijden =====
==== Begin met één op één ====
  - Ken een regelmatig tijdstip
  - Begin met gebed.
  - Vraag hem om een verslag van zijn geestelijke dagboek
  - Vraag hem om zijn uit het hoofd geleerde verzen op te zeggen.
  - Onderzoek zijn hoofdstuk analyse, onderwerp analyse of bijbelstudie opdracht.
  - Vraag hem of hij nog mogelijkheden heeft gehad om te getuigen in de afgelopen week.
  - Bespreek zij gebedsleven sinds jullie laatste ontmoeting.
  - Geef hem een opdracht voor de komende week. 
  - Eindig samen een tijd met gebed, waarin jullie beiden bidden.
